The trail Appalachian National Scenic Trail (AT) extends along the spine of the Appalachian Mountains from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine. Of the 2,174 miles of trail, 28 miles are within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Whether hiking for a couple of hours, for the day, or for the entire length of the trail, the AT provides opportunities for majestic views, wildlife sightings, and hiking challenges.

Millbrook Village - In 1832, a local farmer built a grist mill along the newly-finished Columbia-Walpack Turnpike where it crossed a stream known as "Van Campens Mill Brook." By 1875, Millbrook had reached a peak of 75 inhabitants and about nineteen major buildings. Today's Millbrook Village does not replicate the Millbrook of 1832 or 1900. Rather, it evokes the feeling of countryside hamlets where most of the nation's people lived until the end of the 19th century. On summer weekends, several buildings are open to the public and Millbrook Village Society and other volunteers demonstrate the folkways of that era.

Trip Advisor Review: "My first visit to the Delaware Water Gap was a great one. I drove for miles stopping along the road to see scenic vistas. The road take you through such beautiful stops that give you view of the New Jersey side of the river and park. I drove by little towns that look like they belong on post cards. In the small town of Portland there is a pedestrian brigde that crosses overs the Delaware River and connects Pennsylvania to New Jersey, great spot for photos. On the New Jersey side you'll find the Welcome Center where Rangers can give you directions, pointer, maps, and advice on how to make the best of your day. Just be aware that if your returning to Penn. there is a toll to pay. I had a work out trekking throught the Appalachian Trail, its comes from the Southern states through Pennsylvania, crosses the river into New Jersey to continue towards Maine. Look if you like hiking, swimming, nature walking, scenic driving, or just relaxing then the Delaware Water Gap Nat'l Recreation Area is a great place, like all of the other national parks, it is a national treasure."
